Use the Landfill

The City of Laredo Solid Waste Services encourages to use the landfill when disposing large amounts of waste.

Documents accepted as proof of residency:
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Current water bill with the same address as your ID

Landfill Hours of Operation:
Monday through Saturday  | 8am - 5pm

Landfill opens as long as weather permits. The landfill may be subject to closure to the public on rainy days or inclement weather. Please call in advance, in such cases.

Pick-up trucks hauling a trailer must enter the landfill 30 minutes before closing. 18 Wheelers must enter the landfill before 2:30 p.m.

What do I do if I have extra household trash?

We recommend recycling all newspaper, carton, plastic, aluminum to make space for you trash bin. If it still fills up, then you can request an additional can for $7.00 extra per month.

 

My trash can was not picked up?

It could be it was not out by 7 am or it was not 4feet away from any object. Also it could have been blocked by a parked vehicle or it probably had rocks, dirt or construction debris.

 

I am going to cut some branches; will the City of Laredo pick it up?

Yes, FREE  for those city residents paying City of Laredo garbage fees. Request service by calling 3-1-1 or (956) 796-1098 for a work order.

For commercial accounts, or other residential accounts NOT paying City of Laredo garbage fees, rates will apply as follows:

                        Up to 5 cubic yards.....................................................$35.00 Minimum Charge

                        Each additional cubic yard or portion thereof...............$7.00

 

What if I have an old appliance that I want to get rid off?

It can be taken to the landfill with a driver’s license and a utility bill it will be $2.00 Monday thru Friday and free for disposal on weekends.

If you do not have a vehicle for transport to the landfill, you may call Solid Waste customer service for more information on disposal options.

 

Is the Construction material picked up by the City of Laredo?

Removal of accumulations of Construction and Demolition Debris (wood, sheet rock, carpet, siding, etc.) and other inert (non-putrescible) waste rate are as follows for any residential or commercial account requesting the service:

                      Up to 5 cubic yards...................................................$55.00 Minimum Charge

                      Each additional cubic yard or portion thereof..................................$11.00

 

 

Who picks up dead animals on City’s right of away?

The Solid Waste Services will pick up the dead animal from the sidewalks or street by dialing 3-1-1 or 796-1098.  For after hours call animal control or the police department.

 

Can I put tires in my garbage collection?

No, tires are to be disposed at the landfill by the property owner. Laredo residents may bring up to 4 passenger tires to the landfill per day with proof of ID and City of Laredo utility bill matching the address. Passenger tires for commercial accounts accepted at $2 per tire. 18-wheeler tires fee is $6.00 each regardless if they are residential or commercial.

 

Why was my recycling bin not picked up?

The recycling bin needs to be out by 7am on the schedule pick up day. The recycling bin should not contain any grass clippings or food waste.

 

What are the hours of operation for the Landfill?

Operating hours are Monday-Saturday 8am to 5pm, Sundays closed, If you are hauling a utility trailer you need to enter the Landfill 30 minutes prior to closing. All 18-wheelers need to be in by 2:30 pm.

 

What is the fee to use the landfill?

City of Laredo Residential Garbage
The first ton is $2.00 subsequent weight is charged at $36.50 a ton. City of Laredo residents on Saturdays may bring up to a ton for disposal free of charge.  

Webb County Residential Garbage

The County of Webb, the incorporated cities within Webb County, and any other county or municipal entity with which there exists a current inter local agreement with the city the residential garbage fee is $36.50 a ton.

Commercial
Within the City of Laredo $36.50 per ton. Outside the City of Laredo limits but within Webb County $71.50 per ton. Outside of Webb County $206.50 per ton.

 

What do I do with used motor oil?

Take used motor oil at an oil recycling collection site free of charge.

 

What is the procedure to report stolen trashcan?

You may request an additional trash container by making a police report. Once you have your case number the customer should call our customer service line at 796-1098 to order the additional can and provide us with the address and case number with police officer’s name.

 

Damaged trashcan or needing repair?

Call the customer service line at 796-1098 to advise us if there is a broken lid or broken tire.

 

Can anyone get the mulch that the City of Laredo provides?

Yes, it is free at the City of Laredo Landfill.

 

Where do we dispose of household hazardous waste?

The City of Laredo Environmental Department has a drop off site at the Landfill. They take batteries, computers, paints any other hazardous materials if there is a question about certain materials you may call them at 794-1650 for additional information.

 

How often do you provide collection service?
